Public exhibitions for Lairdmannoch Energy Park: 3-5 September 2024

Wind2 is inviting residents and businesses to three upcoming public exhibitions to learn more about its plans for Lairdmannoch Energy Park.

Lairdmannoch Energy Park has the potential to generate 222,254 megawatt hours of electricity annually, the equivalent of enough carbon-free electricity to meet the needs of around 67,451 homes, and offset around 96,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide each year.

Wind2 is holding public exhibitions in Laurieston (3 September), Twynholm (4 September) and Ringford (5 September) so that people can find out more, see visualisations and provide their comments and feedback on the proposal. The exhibitions will also include an interactive 3d model of the project.

Niall Hunter, project manager for Wind2, said: “We hope that local people will come along to meet us and learn more about our proposal for Lairdmannoch Energy Park, as well as give us feedback on the current plans.

“Combining two forms of renewable energy with battery storage on this site means we’ll be generating a substantial amount of clean energy.

“As well as contributing to the energy needs and net zero targets of Dumfries and Galloway, Scotland and the wider UK, Lairdmannoch Energy Park will also create significant economic benefits for the local communities surrounding the site.

“We’ll be offering a community benefit fund equivalent to £5000 per megawatt of installed wind turbine capacity and £500 for installed solar panel capacity on the site.

“This would provide £310,000 each year the energy park is operational. Over 30 years that translates into £9.3million for investment in local priorities and projects.”

The Wind2 team will be on hand at the public exhibitions to answer questions and respond to suggestions and recommendations.
